Classic Waldorf Salad

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups diced apples
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
  • Dash of salt
  • 1 cup julienned celery sticks
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup whipping cream, whipped
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows (optional)

Method:

In a bowl, combine sugar, lemon juice and salt.
Add apples, celery and walnuts.
Fold mayonnaise into the whipped cream. Fold gently into apple mixture. If you’re including the (optional) mini marshmallows, add those now too.
Chill.
Serve in a lettuce lined bowl, or arrange in lettuce cups on individual plates.

The Waldorf salad is named after the Waldorf‐Astoria Hotel in New York City where it was created in 1896.

Apple storage information:

Apples will keep for up to six weeks if stored in a ventilated bag in the vegetable crisper of your fridge. Don’t wash them before storing; but always wash before eating.
